Passport Size Photo Maker Online
Crop your photo to passport size, download a digital JPG for online forms, or make a print-ready A4 or 4×6 sheet with multiple copies and cutting guides.
Background removal is not included — take the photo against a plain white or light wall.
Common passport-size photo sizes
“Passport size” usually means 35×45 mm in India and many other countries, while US visas and some applications use a 2×2 inch (51×51 mm) square. Stamp-size photos (25×35 mm) are used on some forms and ID cards.
Printed photos are made at 300 DPI, so a 35×45 mm photo is 413×531 pixels. Requirements change and differ between documents — always check the official instructions for the document you are applying for.
Taking a photo at home that looks like a studio print
You do not need a studio to get a usable passport-size photo. Stand about half a metre in front of a plain white or very light wall and face a window, so daylight falls evenly on your face and does not throw a shadow behind you. Ask someone else to take the picture from about one and a half metres away, with the phone held at your eye level. Selfies are taken too close and make the nose look larger and the face slightly distorted.
Use the normal photo mode rather than portrait mode, beauty filters or HDR effects, which can blur the edges of your hair or change your skin tone. Keep your expression neutral, your mouth closed and your head straight, and make sure your hair does not hide your eyebrows or eyes.
Digital JPG or print sheet: which one do you need?
Online forms want a digital file. Choose the size, then pick a KB limit such as 50KB or 100KB under Digital photo; KbSnap crops to the exact pixel size and compresses the JPG until it fits. For an offline form, an office counter or a document that needs pasted photos, make a print sheet instead. Thirty 35×45 mm copies fit on one A4 page, or six on 4×6 inch photo paper, a size most photo shops can print.
When you print at home or at a shop, ask for the file to be printed at actual size or 100%. “Fit to page” enlarges the sheet slightly, and every photo then comes out a little bigger than 35×45 mm. Cut along the light grey guide lines with a ruler and a sharp blade for straight edges.
Checking the result before you use it
Zoom in on the downloaded file and check that your face is sharp, evenly lit and roughly centred, with a little space above your head. If the background looks grey, use the brightness slider slightly and create the photo again. Keep the original photo on your phone so you can make another size later without retaking it.

How to use it
- Take a front-facing photo against a plain light wall in even daylight.
- Upload it and choose the photo size (or enter a custom size in mm).
- Zoom and drag so your head and the top of your shoulders fill the frame.
- Download a digital JPG under your KB limit, or a print sheet as JPG or PDF.
Tips for an accepted passport photo
- Look straight at the camera with a neutral expression and both ears visible where required.
- Avoid shadows on your face and behind you — face a window.
- Remove glasses and caps unless the instructions allow them.
- Print the sheet at 100% / “actual size”, not “fit to page”.
- Use glossy or matte photo paper for studio-like prints.
