Signature Resizer for Exams and Forms

Crop a handwritten signature, clean the paper background, and resize it to the pixels and KB limit printed in your application instructions.

Presets are starting values for common signature boxes, not universal requirements. Confirm your current notice before download.

Forms with a minimum and a maximum

Many forms reject a signature under 10KB as well as one over 20KB. The maximum keeps uploads fast; the minimum stops a tiny, unreadable image. A signature is mostly white paper, so it compresses easily below 10KB, which is why a plain “compress to 20KB” tool can produce a file that is too small.

If your form gives a range like this, open the 10–20KB preset. It sets 20KB as the target and keeps the file at 10KB or more, ideally landing around 12–18KB.

Why signatures get rejected

  • The signature is small inside a big white box. Crop closer so the ink fills most of the image.
  • The file is under the minimum KB, even though it is under the maximum.
  • It is written in capital letters when the form asks for your usual running signature.
  • The photo is blurred or shadowed. Sign with a darker pen and photograph it in daylight.
  • The pixel dimensions are wrong even though the KB size is correct.

Prepare a clear signature image

  • Sign naturally on plain, unlined white paper.
  • Use even lighting and avoid shadows across the paper.
  • Crop closely without cutting off the first or last stroke.
  • Verify the required ink color, pixels, and KB range in the current notice.

Requirements vary by form

A signature accepted by one portal may be rejected by another. Edit the dimensions and KB target to match the form you are completing.

Signature resizing questions

What size should a signature be?

There is no universal signature size. Many application forms ask for a small wide image such as 140×60px with a 10–20KB range, while others use different dimensions. Always check the current notice and edit the values before processing.

How do I resize my signature between 10KB and 20KB?

Open the 10–20KB preset, set the pixel size from your form, crop close to the ink and process. The tool keeps the file above 10KB and below 20KB, and shows a pass or fail result before you download.

My signature file is only 5KB. How do I make it at least 10KB?

With the 10–20KB preset the minimum is enforced by keeping a higher JPEG quality. If the file is still too small, increase the width and height slightly; a tiny image cannot hold 10KB of detail.

My form says "max width 450px and max height 200px". What size should I use?

A maximum rule means each side must be that size or smaller. The safest choice is to enter exactly 450 × 200 px: it uses the whole allowed box and keeps the writing readable. A long, thin signature can also be 450 × 150 px. Width is the larger number for a normal signature.

How do I convert a signature size in cm to pixels?

Pixels = cm ÷ 2.54 × DPI. At 200 DPI, 6 × 2 cm is 472 × 157 px and 3.5 × 1.5 cm is 276 × 118 px; at 300 DPI they are 709 × 236 px and 413 × 177 px. Use the DPI from your notice if it gives one.

How do I resize a signature in KB?

Upload a clear signature image, select or enter the required pixels and maximum KB, crop the writing closely, and process the image. The actual result is shown before download.

What does background cleanup do?

Background cleanup turns light paper shadows white and darkens ink strokes. Adjust the threshold when the paper is grey or the signature is faint.

Should I use black or blue ink?

Use the ink color required by the current application notice. Black ink is commonly requested, but requirements vary by authority.
